Rishon Lezion was founded in 1881 and was declared a city in 1951. It includes many commercial areas and advanced industrial zones. It is located to the south of Gush Dan, north of Ness Tziona, south of Holon and Bat Yam.
In 1989, Nahalat Yehuda was added to the city of Rishon Lezion. Highway 431 connects the Rishon Lezion with the city Modi'in like Highway 1.
