Ra'anana is a city in the Sharon region of Israel, though it is considered part of the Center district for administrative purposes. Ra’anana is one of the most sought after towns, owing to its excellent education system and proximity to high-tech centers. A great many new “Olim” from France, Belgium, England, South Africa, and the United States have chosen to live in Ra’anana. The town is situated northwest of Herzliya and west of Kfar Saba. Givat Hen, a Moshav, is adjacent to its southern limits. The city jurisdiction covers around 15 square kilometers. Established as an agricultural colony or “Moshava” in 1924, it was declared a municipality in 1937 and eventually a city in 1983. Ra’anana has won three honorable titles as a city: “The greenest city in Israel”, “Champion of quality governance”, and “Safe community”.

The population has been growing at just 0.25% per year. One of the larger communities is that of orthodox French “Olim”, but the non-orthodox communities, the Progressive Jewish Movement and the Amitai congregation of conservative Jews, are also active.
